Aimed at teenagers who already know the basics, but equally applicable to adults who want to refine their skills, Jonny covers topics such as tackling, kicking goals, passing, team play, running with the ball and placekicking. There are exclusive interviews with Jonny and his family, unseen footage from the programmes, and Jonny’s rugby playing highlights. He also offers advice and tips on the broader aspects of the game, including health, positive-thinking, tactics, exercise and diet.

Healey also uncovers material from the Lions Tour of Australia 2001 and his favourite moments from ‘Living with Lions’, the 1997 Tour of South Africa.

Century Of Rugby

21st January 2009

Rugby had one of the most romantic births of any sport. Not content with starting life as a full blown, planned event it took a young man called William Webb Ellis to decide in 1823 that instead of kicking a ball he would pick it up and run with it.

From that day at Rugby School a new sport took its place in our heritage. A sport that would be enjoyed by more than 100 nations across the globe.
Through the 20th century, rugby union enjoyed revolution after revolution, starting with the break from rugby league to its recent move from being an amatuer to professional sport and the beginning of the World Cup.
The game produced some of sport’s most famous players from Gareth Edwards and Barry John to Bill Beaumont, Will Carling and Jeremy Guscott.
And some of the sport’s most famous teams. The international sides, the Lions and those world famous Barbarians who ran from their own line in 1973 to score the most famous try the game has ever seen.
Presented by ex-England fly half Rob Andrew this DVD takes you through the history of rugby from its birth bringing you the greatest moments, the best action and the interviews of the biggest names in the game. Relive those unforgettable tries, the action that shaped the great game of rugby.
